Veg Jaunts and Journeys takes small groups of travelers on tours to vegan-friendly destinations. We see the sights, dine in vegan restaurants, and support local vegan businesses by perhaps enjoying a cooking class, food walking tour, or visiting an animal sanctuary. Veg Jaunts and Journeys allows me to blend my two passions of travel and veganism, and show others that it’s easy to travel while vegan. We give you tips to become an independent traveler too.
What sets us apart is that are groups are small, with less than 10 travelers. Most importantly, pricing is based on having your own room. No need to share unless you want to, and no need to pay a higher price if you’re traveling solo.
We offer 8-10 tours per year, heavily focusing on Europe.
What makes us most happy is taking travelers to Europe for their first trip abroad (but we cater to experienced travelers too!) and seeing how sharing the common value of veganism makes everyone in the group fast friends. Age range of our travelers usually spans from 30-80, which is also very rewarding.
We would love to have you join us on a tour!
PersonalI became vegan 4 years ago, after being vegetarian for 30 years. I found being vegetarian pretty easy, even though I didn’t know too many others at the time. I had thought about becoming vegan for at least 5 years, but as an avid traveler, I always thought it would be quite difficult to remain vegan while traveling. I didn’t really know about animal cruelty; I always just thought it seemed a very unnatural thing, to consume animals, and I would always see the animal in my mind while eating it, before becoming vegetarian.
I saw a very mild movie, “Peaceable Kingdom: The Journey Home,” which only had a few minutes of difficult footage to watch, but that was all it took for me to become vegan. I then joined a vegan Meetup group, where the members were so helpful, supportive, and friendly. My transition took less than one month.
I now live in the vegan heaven of Asheville NC, where almost every single friend I’ve made (loads and loads of people!) is vegan! It’s truly paradise; our community is so active, with multiple activities and events every week. We’re also surrounded by many animal sanctuaries. Come visit!
